As the former founding director of the Center for Phlebotomy Education, Inc., I've authored five books on phlebotomy, delivered over 500 conference presentations in nearly every U.S. state and 11 countries, and consulted for corporations, governments, and agencies around the world. Having sold the Center in 2021, my focus has turned to freelance writing, visual arts and my "On a Personal Note" blog.

Having written thousands of technical pieces related to blood sample collection, my writing pursuits can now turn to the creative side including children's fiction, creative nonfiction, and spiritual genres. Bylines so far include Parents magazine, Detroit Free Press Magazine, WordPerfect, Louisville Courier-Journal, and Photographic.
My "On a Personal Note" essays started as off-topic musings for my company's newsletter in 2000 with over 30,000 subscribers; I'm delighted to bring it back to life on this site as a blog.
Personal Profile
I work and write from my home office on the shores of Lake Huron near Cheboygan, Michigan where I live with my devoted wife, Catherine. We share our paradise with Molly (an adorable Great Pyrenees), and three cats: Pansy, Romeow and Juliet.
When I'm not writing or producing Studio E videos, I enjoy biking and kayaking/canoeing the waters of Northern Michigan whenever I can, and never without a camera. We are active in our church and have five children, nine grandkids and two great grands spread from California to North Carolina.
